CARDIO CONDITIONING:
The goal of a cardio conditioning class is to put emphasis on various cardio exercises like running and cycling — exercises that are high intensity. Engaging in these gets your heart pumping and blood flowing, helping to improve your overall cardiovascular fitness and endurance. As we are pursuing overall health and functionality, it is important to ackownledge the importance of a healthy heart and lungs, for not only athletic performance, but for well being as well.
In our cardio conditioning classes we zoom in on “building the engine” - increasing the body’s capacity to transport oxygen to the muscles in a short amount of time. This improves recovery and endurance.
The first portion of a cardio conditioning class focusses on longer, monostructural pieces, where time on a cardio machine/road is required. We intentionally develop the slow twithc muscle fibers before heading over to some lactic threshold workouts.
Each session is concluded with lactic threshold intervals. Theses short, intense intervals aim to expose you body to a much lactic acid as possible, building a resistance for future use. This increases the capacity of the body to delay the feeling of “burning muscles” during workouts.
